Beter worden zonder big pharma

The Big Pharma invented phrase "Ask Your Doctor" is not a good idea when dealing with vitamins and minerals. Almost no medical school spends more than a few hours on this important subject, but all spend thousands of hours on pharmacology study. If you do "ask your doctor", you may get wrong information. Doctors (all kinds) are "educationally handicapped" by their learning, and brainwashing by Big Pharma. No medical journal can tell the truth about vitamins without losing Big Pharma advertising - the liefeblood of all med journals.

Basic Health Improvement Using Vitamins and Minerals

This is the formula that I have used for over 30 years. A large majority of the people I've recommended it to have noticed improvement ranging from some to tremendous just from this simple vitamin mineral supplemental regimen:

2 grams (2000mg) of vitamin C taken with breakfast, and 2 grams taken with dinner. 1 Solgar VM-75 (or equal) multivitamin taken with all other supplements and/or drugs containing minerals at lunch.

Here's the reasoning behind this regimen:

1. The true RDA for vitamin C is about 4 grams (4000 mg) per day, and since it only lasts about 3-4 hours in the body, split into at least two doses. Remember that the RDA was
originally just enough to prevent scurvy. The current RDA of 75mg is about one orange, but for better health, all primates (including us and apes, monkeys, etc) require about 4 grams per 150 pounds. (Just ask a veterinarian in the zoo who takes care of apes.)

2. Vitamin C takes minerals out of the body by combining with them to form mineral ascorbates, a relatively harmless chemical compound that is water soluble. This form is filtered by the kidneys, and excreted in urine. Since no medical schools teach much about vitamins, few MD's even are aware of this vitamin C ability. They are trained to use chelation drugs instead. (Tip: vitamin C is much cheaper to use.)

3. The only way to get out toxic "heavy metal" minerals, is to take out all minerals, including the needed ones for health, and then put back those needed for health. Yeah, it's a pretty cumbersome way to do it, but there doesn't seem to be a better way!

4. The Solgar VM-75 vegavitamin/mineral (yeah, it's a big horse pill) provides a good basic mineral supplement putting back what was taken out by the vitamin C. In addition, it provides 75 mg of the B vitamin complex, which is needed to fight stress. I have used this combination for over 30 years, and at 82, I've outlived most of my friends and family, and am still going.

The above is basic, and will help everyone to

Here's a list of some supplements I take or recommend with different individuals:

* Vitamin A. This is most important for night vision. If you have difficulty seeing or driving at night, take 25,000 to 100,000 IU per day for a month, and see if that helps.. BTW,
smoking destroys vitamin A.

* Vitamin D. This is the "sunshine vitamin". Sunshine on the skin transforms cholesterol into this important vitamin. Many persons who live in northern climates are deficient in this vitamin, and require supplementation. Deficiencies cause depression and other mental problems. If you're depressed at all, try taking 5000 IU every day for a week and see if this makes you feel better.

* Vitamin E. This is the blood/heart vitamin, It is an antioxidant, and it's use prevents strokes even better than the blood thinning drugs made from rat poisons - Coumaden, and Warfarin. For people over 40, this supplement is virtually a "must". I have had atrial fib for over 25 years, and I take 600 IU per day. Many MD's and cardiologists have been surprised that I am not on aspirin or coumadin, and some have urged me to start on those. None of them were even aware of the research done by the Shute brothers in Canada over 30 years ago. Again "educationally handicapped".. As an antioxident, it also helps in diabetes to prevent spreading neuropathy and retinopathy.

* Vitamin B12. This is most important to women, as estrogen seems to prevent or stop good uptake of this vitamin from digestion. Women who have been on the pill for some
time may show up with high blood pressure. Taking a sublingual (under tongue) lozenge once a day may lower high blood pressure into the "good levels, or at least under the "bad" levels.

* Minerals. It's beyond the scope of this paper to recommend minerals, as than takes a mineral analysis. This can be done using blood, urine or hair. However, the basic
minerals calcium and magnesium are lacking in VM-75 in sufficient amounts, I recommend equal amounts of each. I take 400 mg of calcium citrate, and 400 mg of magnesium citrate daily at noon.

* Fish Oil.. Fish oil supplies the two oils (omega 3 and omega 6) that we need. Cooking oils other than olive oil do not. I use a gel fishoil capsule from www.ourhealthcoop.com/ (I recommend this source as reasonably priced and excellent quality for many of the supplements that I use. I get nothing for any recommendations from them or
Solgar).)

* CoQ10 supplement. If you are over 50 years old, or have heart problems in the family, this helps the heart health. I take one every day.

* Ginko Biloba. This seems to help memory to work better. As we age, we start to lose some memory ability. Ofen, I can experience a "senior moment", where I know the
answer, but cannot bring it up. I take 2 Ginko Biloba caps a day, and it definitely helps me to remember and bring up answers.

Those are the ones I take, have researched, and while there are many more for specific problems, you will have to do the research if not listed here. Good luck and better
health.
